Abstract
In complement to the European Commission’s Lifelong Learning Programme, one project in the ECML’s 2008-2011 programme deals with the process of mobility programmes as a whole: the preparatory stages of the study abroad programme, the time spent abroad and the post-mobility programme experience and follow-up phase. For pedagogical monitoring of mobility experiences (real and virtual) a double learning scenario (teachers in training and pupils in primary and secondary school) has been developed, including the use of COE tools such as
• The European Language Portfolio (ELP)
• Autobiography of Intercultural Encounters (AIE)
• Developing and assessing intercultural communicative competence (ICCinTE)
• Intercultural competence for professional mobility (ICOPROMO)
• Mirrors and windows. An intercultural communication textbook
• The European Portfolio for Student Teachers of Languages (EPOSTL)
• The Framework of Reference for Pluralistic Approaches (FREPA)
To fully exploit the learning scenarios, the new project will:
- adapt the material to the upper secondary and secondary vocational contexts, where both students and their teachers would benefit from tools structuring and guiding the study abroad experience;
- develop a concept for the implementation of PluriMobil in the different institutional settings and for the different stakeholders (teachers and trainers, sending and hosting institutions, personnel responsible for curricula of primary, lower and upper secondary schools and teacher training institutions, personnel responsible for mobility);
- include examples of good practice on the website and a very comprehensible and concise user guide for each level of education targeted by the scenarios;
- further develop the website as a source for information and networking, linking mainly projects of the EU and of the COE, related to the promotion of plurilingual/intercultural education and mobility.
