Contribution to the project
I am actively engaged since my employment at ITT in 1994 in the promotion of language teaching and learning. Due to my membership in national language associations and due to my work with international partners in EU LdV projects I know that language staff are too often only communicating to the converted and do not manage to break out of their discipline area in order to include other stakeholders. Since my 2010 membership at the EU Commission working group: "Languages for Jobs" I am very much interested in pursuing this path of how to be more inclusive and how to convince other stakeholders of the importance of languages for communication purposes and intercultural competences.
Since my professional employment as a lecturer in the early 90s I have worked in a bilingual capacity (English/German), which would support my role as second working language documentalist. I have conducted research projects both in English and in German.
Due to my active involvement with language associations I am very much supporting the idea of collaboration among different institutes of higher education and different languages and am aware that new approaches to teaching languages is needed. I feel that this project could provide important guidance for my colleagues when addressing the question on successful methodology.
My previous experience with various EU projects since 2003 should also assist my rle in this project.
